Oh the possibilities!

So, I get really excited when people commit to themselves – Its an essential first step in helping others. I may still have a ways to go on my own journey but that doesn’t mean I can’t be a resource for others right now.

For more inspiration and to check out another on-going transformation – pop over to http://erinfitbound.wordpress.com and follow Erin’s story. She just started The 21 Day Fix AND became a Beachbody coach! Way to go Erin 🙂

Getting Fit With The Fam

I’m so excited — I enlisted my sis and mom for a little private coaching group starting Monday! We’ll all see each other in May and then hopefully again at the end of July (my mom lives in Iowa, my sis is in Florida, and I’m in CA) – so we want to be close to our goals for our first meet up and then have met them by July!

To start out, my mom’s doing 21 Day Fix, my sis T25, and I’m still on P90X3! We’re all drinking Shakeology and eating mean and clean. This is gonna be fun 🙂

A Cockeyed Optimist

Image

I’m so torn. Every bit of me tends to be happy and positive, but right now…right now I am sitting here with one less tooth and it’s really wigging me out. A foreign object in a veggie dumpling cracked my crown last night. I had a fitting today and a temp cap put on and then tried to eat dinner (peas….it was PEAS…) several hours later and it fell right off….Ha. Kind of comical, but such a pain in the ass. Plus the manager of the restaurant hasn’t returned my call today…and he inferred they’d pay for said crown because gyozas are supposed to be soft, y’all!

Oh well….I’ll stop complaining and leave you with one positive statement and one random story.

Positive statement: The man who whittled my temp molar cap like it was something I wear in the center of my forehead was lovely to chat with.

Random story: “A Cockeyed Optimist” is a song from South Pacific which is a musical I was in when I was 16. And that’s when I met one of my very favorite people, the birthday girl from last week! We were both nurses in the cast 🙂 She is also the fortunate person who got to hear my tooth crack…

Happy Valentine’s Day

Image

Hope everyone has a fantastic day – I’m heading out after work to celebrate my best friend’s birthday AND going to have something sweet in honor of my grandma. She turns 91 today and is a sucker for chocolate but I can’t share a treat with her because she’s on vacation in Port Richey, FL visiting my Aunt Colleen 🙂

Here’s a pic of me, my grandma Nan, and aunt Kathleen from last year. The next day we went on a mini bar crawl with some more family. Great genes I tell you!

Confession time plus a delayed WIAW.

Image

Hey there hi there ho there, welcome to Confessions from Your Friendly Blogger! I have not been staying on point – February’s resolutions were forgotten nearly immediately after February began… I have not been doing my two miles before my P90X3 workouts (though at least I still have been doing those!!), and while I haven’t been drinking a lot – this weekend I was on mini vacation in Florida with my parents, sis, and bro-in-law and I definitely had more than my 2 daily max…and lastly, well, actually I have been sticking to the vegan/gluten-free at home so at least there’s that 😉

Oh, speaking of gluten-free – I WASN’T in Florida and my skin broke out in a rash as a result…I had forgotten about that pesky development that started this last year…

Image

Gross, huh? That was at the airport Monday morning – my sister is gluten free so she had the options available for me but I thought: “HEY I’M ON VACATION LET’S GET CRAZY!” So I had crab fritters, bread with my gluten free pasta (haha), and sandwiches with delicious hoagie rolls. After the fritters Friday I started to break out a little, and by Sunday evening my hands and arms were covered in an insanely itchy rash.

So, back to clean eating and no gluten for me. Obviously it’s more than just my digestive system that doesn’t like it.

But it’s only the 13th, I can turn it around – I’m recommitting to my resolutions!

So onto What I Ate Wednesday –

I’m just going to focus on dinner, because breakfast was tasty Shakeology and lunch was 2 soft shell veggie tacos (peppers, onion, lettuce, pico, guacamole, and I had black beans added on corn tortillas) from yummy Tacos Por Favor in Santa Monica but DINNER my friends!? Dinner was fantastically delicious raw vegan food that my aunt whipped up for us. She’s a raw vegan chef and I am lucky to be a taster for her sometimes 😉

Here are a few pics of the treats she made last night (these are on my insta account, as well as previous meals @fitmooney – or if you want to go straight to the source my aunt’s insta account is @kellieannskitchen)

We started with Tropical Fiesta on a Raft (yes, I’m a nerd – it’s my name twist on ants on a log….)

Image

Cucumber ribboned with a mandolin, topped with carrot and sunflower seed pate, an avocado/cilantro/chickpea/jalapeno puree, and mango salsa. I think…there are many elements there I don’t remember or am purposefully holding back (it’s the former). This tasted as vibrant as it looked. So many spicy and sweet flavors, yum!

Then we went to the entree! Open faced:

And ready to devour:

Yum doesn’t begin to cover it – more carrot and sunflower seed pate with cucumber, mango salsa, apple, greens, and avocado all in between mango bread. Mango bread!? OMG it was so good I honestly don’t know what to tell you about it other than I had fully chowed mine down before Kellie even finished assembling her own!!

If you live in the Los Angeles area and are wanting to go raw vegan but aren’t sure how to start check my aunt out – – she provides lunch, dinner, and a snack daily PLUS will give you and your friends a tutorial if you’d like to learn how to make your favorites. Check her out on instagram: KellieAnnsKitchen

Ok, well I’d better get some work done so I’ll leave you with a random thought: I’ve been signing up for hilariously themed 5ks and they are starting soon, I’m so excited. I did the Color Me Rad run last summer and this spring have Bad Prom and Ridiculous Obstacle Challenge to look forward to – can’t wait!

We’ll see how long this kind of thing lasts

Image

I admit it, I’ve been horrible about posting…So to change that I’ve come up with a few ideas to get me on here more. (“come up with” should read: stolen from other bloggers) Not that my 7 followers care terribly BUT it holds me more accountable so I CARE 🙂

Anyway, so welcome to the first What I Ate Wednesday. I don’t know how long I’ll keep this up because it seems like only a post my mom would care about, but it will at least last through next week 😉 Mostly because I just decided to do this right now so I’m posting what I ate yesterday with photos snagged from the google images and my Instagram account @fitmooney. Next week will be shiny, iPhone 5s quality photos. (so…not as great as some of these!)

Let’s start with breakfast shall we? Because I did! I got up, did my 2 mile warm up run followed by Eccentric Upper – yes, I’m a day behind on my P90X3 schedule, posted on my FB Coach page and current Challenge Group, then got ready for work and, like so many mornings lately, I was running behind so I grabbed my Shakeology shaker cup, threw together a delicious little mix and ran out the door.

Image

(Don’t worry, this selfie was taken when I parked at the bank – also it was from three weeks ago…so picture me yesterday with different glasses AND 4 lbs lighter)

Yesterday morning’s Shakeology treat included Vegan Chocolate, PB2 powder, 3 ice cubes, 4 ounces of unsweetened Almond milk and 8 ounces of water. It was delicious and just the boost I needed to be ready for my long day! The coffee I had once I got into the office helped as well I’m sure…

Lunch was from Real Food Daily, a vegan restaurant nearby and I got my current favorite: The Spicy BLT.

Image

This sandwich is soooo delicious: Tempeh bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato and spicy vegan aioli on sprouted whole grain bread. Except I tweak it a little, have it made on their gluten free bread and add live sauerkraut. Yum, yum, yum, yummmmmmm. It comes with a side house salad that has cucumber, carrot, beets and a tasty tahini dressing.

I snacked on a Valencia orange at 4pm, I’ll let you use your imagination as to what that looked like, and then headed home to hop on a conference call with my fellow Rockout Knockouts. What’s a Rockout Knockout? It’s a member of my Cup Challenge team for Beachbody. And what’s a Cup Challenge? Five Independent Beachbody coaches get together as a team to earn points from sales and coaching development. As you hit certain levels of points you win fun prizes like beach chairs, blankets, coolers, Nike kicks, trips, etc!! It’s a good little competition, helps you push yourself and get to know some colleagues 🙂

By 7:30 I was off the call, so I finished up my goal list for this week decided to be incredibly lazy about ‘dinner.’ I usually put a little effort in but nope, not last night.

Image

I steamed some brussel sprouts and pan roasted pumpkin seeds… Seasoned it all with salt and pepper and added a little Earth Balance… Boring huh?

Finished up the evening with ANOTHER orange while I watched Veronica Mars because, well I like them! They’re so tasty and my roommate and I bought a 10lb bag so it’s all oranges all the time at Casa de Joyous Moon.

Ok so, again, I’d be shocked if anyone other than my mom (Hi Mom!) enjoys this post. I think in the future I’ll try to do a restaurant review or SOMETHING to add some value 🙂

Random final thought: I’m really tired today and after client drinks this evening I still have to pack for my mini trip to Florida. Urgh, wish I could skip drinks. Shhhh, don’t tell my Day Job clients 😉
